Shop Talk

On Tuesday 10 January 2006, BBC Radio 4 broadcast a programmme on Web 2.0, in the ShopTalk series. Photos of various participants in the studio can be seen on Flickr here.

One of those appearing in the programme was Dr Paul Miller, Technology Evangelist for the library software company Talis. According to the preview in his blog (January 6th), he talks about
the way in which we don't perceive Amazon et al as a 'threat', but rather see real opportunities to deliver a better service for our borrowers and their customers (often the same people, after all) through the effective leveraging of web services and collaborative intelligence, as demonstrated by exemplars such as Whisper.

There is some later discussion between Paul Miller and myself in this blog, filed under the libraries category. See also his article on Web 2.0: Building the New Library (Ariadne, Issue 45, October 2005).
