Untangling - One Strand at a Time

Every January, I carefully put away the Christmas decorations. Every December, I discover that some mysterious force has tangled the lights and streamers and other decorations into a knotted mess. (Perhaps this force operates around Halloween.)

Untangling a complex knot requires concentration and patience. If you let go one of the strands you have already separated, it knots itself back in worse than before. Having somewhere to hang the free strands is helpful. Brute force is not.

The transition from legacy spaghetti to a loosely coupled SOA system also requires patience. Don’t just pull one end and hope for the best.
