Domain Specific Platforms

Somewhere on the road between Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and Domain Specific Languages (DSL) we can identify the Domain Specific Platform (DSP).

In the latest CBDI Journal (December 2004), I describe the emergence of insurance platforms [Link for Suscribers] [Link for Non-Subscribers]. Since writing my piece, I have found a piece called Hitting the Wall in which Steve Forte of the Meta Group comes to similar conclusions.

Vendors who are creating supply-side platforms for the insurance sector include Acturis and Metaserver (both linked to the Polaris initiative) and IE-Engine.

Insurance companies who are creating demand-side platforms include Humana and The Harford Select Customer Xpand (Rough Notes Magazine April 2004).
